Kindergarten programs to open the minds and worlds of children

Through active participation in our kinder programs, children develop self-confidence, resilience, social skills and creativity. At Sunnyside Kindergarten, our 3-year old and 4-year old programs are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, where children are encouraged to learn through open-ended play.

Creating the right kindergarten program for your child

Our play based curriculum is inquiry based, interactive and exploratory involving a rich variety of sensory materials. We also incorporate as many “real life” play experiences as possible. As educators, our first priority is to instil a love and appreciation for learning, to help ensure children reach their full potential in later years.

Through meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, we regularly plan and evaluate the program which is informed by each child’s interests, skills and ideas.  Group and individual objectives are devised based on observations and critical reflection. The children’s learning journey is documented in many different ways including photographs, stories, reflections, summative assessments, and more.

3 Year-old Program

As your child enters our kindergarten for the first time, we will support them to build their confidence and encourage them to be inquisitive learners. Our 3 year-old program introduces children to a play-based curriculum which encourages them to build their own sense of identity. As they participate in the program they develop new interests, self-help skills and explore their understanding of the world.

4 Year-old Program

Our 4 year-old kinder program continues your child’s development through experiencing a play-based curriculum that supports them to develop a strong sense of identity, to be connected with and contribute to their world, to be confident and involved learners, and to be effective communicators. We are proud to also include unique learning experiences such as our Japanese language programme.  The children start to become active members of the wider community by venturing out into the neighbourhood, and enjoying excursions to places of interest such as the beach.
